Father Rescues Son as Fire Destroys Moeshe Zongo Home

A late afternoon fire on Sunday, August 10, has destroyed a family’s home at Moeshe Zongo in the Ashanti Region, leaving one man injured.
Eyewitnesses say a loud explosion was heard moments before the blaze erupted around 5:30 p.m., quickly consuming three rooms. By the time Ghana National Fire Service personnel arrived, nothing could be salvaged.
A man in his 40s, now receiving treatment at Tafo Hospital in stable condition, sustained injuries while escaping. In a dramatic moment, he reportedly threw his five-year-old son out of the burning room to safety before escaping himself.
Residents say an unspecified amount of cash and valuable property were destroyed. Local youth joined efforts to contain the fire, which is still under investigation.
