Tears in Obogu as Asiedu Nketia Donates GHC60,000 to Families of 16 Crash Victims

Grief hung heavy in the air at Obogu on Sunday as NDC National Chairman, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, walked into the Saviour Church of Ghana with a powerful message of comfort — and GHC60,000 in cash — for families mourning 16 young members killed in a horrific road accident.
The victims, all active youth in the church, were returning from a programme when their vehicle was involved in a fatal crash, plunging the Asante Akim South community into deep sorrow.
Speaking with a heavy heart, Mr. Asiedu Nketia told the grieving congregation that though the pain was unbearable, “God has a reason for everything that happens, and we must give thanks in all circumstances.”
The donation included GHC50,000 from his personal funds and an additional GHC10,000 from the Gender Ministry. He revealed that he had dispatched a party envoy, Justice Yeboah, to the church immediately after news of the tragedy broke.
The NDC boss urged the church to remember the party and the nation in prayer, so that “such calamities will not befall us again.”
He was flanked by a high-profile delegation, including Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene, Ashanti Regional NDC Chairman Augustus Andrews Nana Akwasi, Kumasi Mayor Hon. Isham Alhassan, and several DCEs and MCEs from the Ashanti Region.
The solemn service was marked by hymns, tears, and heartfelt tributes to the departed, with Mr. Asiedu Nketia’s gesture bringing some comfort to the devastated families.
