BREAKING: Defence Minister, Other Top Officials Die in Military Helicopter Crash

Tragedy has struck Ghana as all eight occupants of a Ghana Air Force helicopter have been confirmed dead following a crash near Adansi Brofoyedru in the Ashanti Region.
The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) earlier reported that the Z9 military helicopter, which departed Accra at 9:12 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, en route to Obuasi, went off radar. It has now been confirmed that the aircraft crashed, killing all five passengers and three crew members on board.

Flying Officer Ampadu, co-pilot
Sergeant Ernest Addo, flight technician
The Ghana Armed Forces confirmed the incident in a press release signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations of the Ghana Navy. The release initially stated that efforts were underway to re-establish contact with the helicopter, but later sources confirmed the fatalities at the crash site.
The military and emergency services have since cordoned off the area, and investigations have begun into the cause of the crash.
