Three Perish in Fiery Motorbike Collision

A devastating motorbike collision on Monday morning has left the Manso Watreso community in mourning, as three young men were burned beyond recognition after a head-on crash sparked an inferno along a dangerous stretch of road in the Amansie South District.

The incident occurred between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. when two speeding motorbikes—each carrying a rider and a passenger—crashed violently on the dusty, unpaved Watreso road. The impact triggered an explosion, setting both bikes ablaze and engulfing their riders in flames.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as harrowing.

“There was a loud bang, and when we ran to the road, the bikes were already on fire,” said Kwame Manu, a local resident who was among the first to arrive. “We tried to put it out with water and sand, but it was hopeless. The fire was too strong, and the screams stopped quickly.”

Three of the four individuals involved were killed instantly in the blaze. Their remains have been transported to the morgue at St. Martin’s Hospital in Agroyesum for preservation and identification. The lone survivor, whose condition remains critical, is receiving emergency medical care.

Authorities believe that over-speeding and reckless riding were major contributing factors to the tragedy. Locals, however, are also pointing fingers at the poor condition of the road, which they say has become a death trap due to its narrow width, lack of signage, and absence of any enforcement of traffic regulations.
