Ekuona Royal Family of Nsuta Officially Informs Otumfuo of Daddy Lumba’s Passing

The Ekuona Royal Family of Nsuta has officially announced the death of Ghanaian highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, to the Asantehene, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Led by the Otumfuo Saamanhene, the royal delegation visited the Manhyia Palace to break the sad news to the King. The announcement deeply saddened Otumfuo, who has since given the family his blessing to proceed with preparations for a befitting funeral for the music icon.
Speaking after the official announcement, the head of the Nsuta Royal Family, Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu Boahen, expressed profound gratitude to Daddy Lumba’s global fan base for their outpouring of love and support. He, however, urged fans and the general public to exercise patience, noting that with Otumfuo officially informed, all funeral-related discussions and decisions would now be coordinated accordingly.
Responding to questions about a potential state burial, Abusuapanin Boahen said those details would be addressed in due course. He emphasized the importance of respecting the family’s authority in all matters related to Daddy Lumba’s funeral.
“We kindly ask that anyone seeking information about the funeral should contact the family directly. Anyone who creates donation funds, prints T-shirts, or organizes events in Daddy Lumba’s name without our consent will be dealt with legally,” he warned.
The public is encouraged to await further announcements from the family as plans unfold to honour one of Ghana’s most celebrated musical icons.
