Ejisu MCE Cautions Chiefs Against Selling Lands Meant for Development Projects

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejisu, Jerryne Asante, has expressed deep concern over the ongoing sale of lands reserved for public infrastructure projects by some traditional leaders in the municipality.

Ms. Asante revealed that several lands initially allocated for schools, hospitals, markets, and other critical development initiatives are being sold to private developers without government consultation.

“We know that chiefs are the custodians of the land, but government also has the responsibility of ensuring development in every community. They should comply with the layout of the community so that government lands are not sold out,” she cautioned.

Ms. Asante emphasized that true development can only be achieved when all stakeholders—including chiefs, assembly members, and residents—work together in the interest of their communities.

She assured the public that her office will prioritize the needs of rural communities, especially in areas such as potable water, roads, and health infrastructure, using the District Assembly Common Fund.

“Ejisu is a hub of trading, so there will be a 24-hour economy market to boost business activities and reduce unemployment during my tenure,” she added.

The MCE also noted that she has used a newly acquired drip machine to rehabilitate several dilapidated roads in the municipality within her first two months in office.

Ms. Asante called on traditional leaders to support the assembly’s development agenda by protecting public lands and aligning with government planning policies for the benefit of future generations.
