Woman Crushed to Death at Aboabo

A tragic accident at Aboabo in Kumasi claimed the life of an unidentified woman early Tuesday morning, prompting renewed appeals for improved pedestrian safety in the area.
The fatal incident occurred around 6:40 AM on the Aboabo–Airport Roundabout Highway. According to eyewitness accounts, the woman, believed to be in her mid-30s, was attempting to cross the road near the Fatima Farida School when she was struck by a long vehicle transporting electric cables.

The driver of the vehicle, as well as the truck, have since been taken into custody at the Airport Police Station to assist with investigations.
The deceased’s body has been conveyed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue for preservation and identification.
The tragic event has sparked public outrage, with residents calling on government and city authorities to construct a pedestrian footbridge at the location to help prevent further loss of lives.

Over the years, the Aboabo-Airport highway has recorded numerous pedestrian-related accidents, with residents consistently raising concerns about the lack of adequate road safety infrastructure in the area.
