Landlady Dies of Shock After Kusasi Chief’s Assassination

Tragedy has struck the Asawase community in Kumasi following the assassination of Chief Abdul Malik Azimbe, the Ashanti Regional Kusasi Chief. In a heartbreaking twist, his 84-year-old landlady, Aba Tawia, reportedly died of shock moments after learning of his death.

According to family accounts, Aba Tawia collapsed upon hearing that Chief Azimbe — who lived in her house — had been shot by unidentified gunmen on Tuesday evening. She was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Emmanuel Mensah, also known as Bob, the son of the late landlady, said his mother and the chief shared a close relationship. “She was inside her room while the chief was outside when gunshots rang out. Moments later, she was told he had been shot and killed. Upon hearing that, she fell to the ground,” he narrated.

Chief Abdul Malik Azimbe, who also served as the Divisional Chief of Kaadi in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region, was reportedly ambushed and shot by assailants riding a motorbike. His death has sent shockwaves through the Kusasi community.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into the chief’s assassination.
