Kusasi Chief in Ashanti Region Shot Dead in Suspected Targeted Attack

The Kusasi Chief of the Ashanti Region and Chief of the Kadi Divisional Area in Binduri, Abdul-Malik Azenbe, has been shot and killed in what police believe to be a targeted attack.

The shocking incident occurred on the night of Tuesday, July 22, near the Asawase F-Line Community Centre in Kumasi. Eyewitnesses say two unidentified men arrived at the chief’s residence on a motorbike around 8:40 p.m. One of the attackers, reportedly armed with an AK-47 rifle, opened fire before they fled the scene.

Chief Azenbe, who was enskinned as Kadi Naaba just three months ago, was rushed to the Manhyia District Hospital and later referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, visited the bereaved family shortly after the incident. He assured them that a full-scale investigation is underway and pledged to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Police have since increased security in the area and are appealing to the public for information that could help track down the gunmen.

The tragic death has sent shockwaves through the Kusasi community, with calls for swift police action to prevent further violence.
