Agradaa Jailed for Defrauding Followers in Money-Doubling Scam

Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, widely known as Nana Agradaa, has been handed a 15-year prison sentence by the Circuit Court in Accra after being found guilty of defrauding unsuspecting victims under the guise of religious and spiritual promises.
The controversial figure, who transitioned from a traditional priestess to a self-styled Christian evangelist, was convicted on multiple counts of defrauding by false pretence and engaging in charlatanic advertisement.
The charges stem from a televised broadcast in 2022, during which she claimed to possess the supernatural ability to multiply money for individuals who sowed “seed money” into her ministry. Dozens responded to the call, only to be left financially devastated when the promised returns never materialized.
The court emphasized that her conduct not only exploited vulnerable individuals but also undermined public trust in genuine religious practice. Her sentencing is being seen as a landmark decision in the ongoing national crackdown on deceptive spiritual schemes.
As part of standard court protocol, a pregnancy test was conducted before sentencing. The result was negative, allowing the court to proceed with the full custodial sentence.
