Kofi Adu Domfeh Elected New GJA Ashanti Regional Chairperson by a Single Vote

In what many are calling one of the closest races in recent GJA history, Kofi Adu Domfeh, a seasoned journalist with The Multimedia Group in Kumasi, has been elected as the Ashanti Regional Chairperson of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA).
Domfeh won by just one vote, securing 16 votes against his opponent’s 15 — a razor-thin margin that shows how competitive the election was.
But beyond the numbers, Domfeh’s campaign stood out for its clarity and focus. He ran on a strong three-point agenda aimed at elevating journalism in the region. His vision includes:
Professional Integrity – Championing ethical journalism and high professional standards
Dignity in Ethical Practice – Protecting the image and values of the journalism profession
Accountability – Encouraging transparency within the media landscape
In his victory speech, Domfeh was full of gratitude — but also resolute about the work ahead.
“I am humbled by the trust my colleagues have shown me. This is a call to action, and I’m committed to ensuring that every journalist in Ashanti is supported, respected, and empowered to do excellent work,” he said.
He will be working with a new team of elected executives, including:
Nicholas Osei-Wusu (GBC) – Vice Chairperson
Beatrice Spio-Gabbrah (Media General) – General Secretary
Dr. Neta Kris Abiana Pasram – Treasurer
The election was part of a nationwide GJA exercise to elect both national and regional leaders. And from the feedback online and offline, there’s a real sense of hope about the direction of journalism in the Ashanti Region under Domfeh’s leadership.
As journalists, media professionals, and advocates continue to demand better representation and higher standards, this new GJA leadership team in Ashanti has both the challenge — and the opportunity — to deliver.
