KOD FOUNDATION Supports Adum Fire Victims With GH¢10,000, 50 bags of cement

Keen On Development Foundation (KODF), a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), has donated GH¢10,000 and 50 bags of cement to traders affected by the recent fire outbreak at the Blue Light Market at Adum in Kumasi.
Led by its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Kyeremeh Oppong Daniel, alias KOD and some membersof the foundation, toured the affected areas to commiserate with the affected traders.
Making the presentation, KOD, who is the 2023/24 President of the National Union of Ghana Students, (NUGS), stated that as a youth group, they decided to make the gesture to the victims to let them know that they were behind them in their difficult time.
“As future leaders of this country, which is the youth, we decided to put our resources together and also come to support our dear mothers and fathers who suffered in here to get enough money to pay our school fees. Our school fees were paid out of hustling these our parents (traders) are going through. As a youth group, we are not sitting aloof. We came today to support our parents with 50 bags of cement and a cash of GH¢10 000.00,” the 2023/24 NUGS President stressed.
Mr. Oppong Daniel, who came to witness a huge milliary and police presence at the scene admonished authorities not to intimidate the traders but allow them to go on with their businesses peacefully.
“We want to sound a caution out there that as a youth group, our parents are in here, and we are going to support them from the start to the end. No security force, no government machinery, or authority can intimidate our parents. If authorities want to start a new project, they should follow the due process but not resort to harassment and intimidation. The Macavelean tactics of dealing with issues is arche,” an emotionally charged KOD warned.
Earlier on, some of the traders, particularly women, who came to see the area barricaded with aluminium sheets placed at the entrances midnight of yesterday, forced their way into the area to sell on their tables.
The action by the traders attracted about 30 armed military personnel in four separate pickup vehicles of registration numbers GN 749-20, 49 GA 57, 44 GA 07 and 44 GA 09 to the scene, in addition to about 20 armed policemen who were already present.
Despite their security personnel) presence, some of the traders chanting war songs were not deterred but continued with their businesses.
“We want the security personnel who are backed by authorities to come clear on the road map in renovating the facility. But to ambush them and lock the whole place and deny them their daily bread is unacceptable. As a youth group, we want to assure our parents, particularly the traders in the Ashanti Region, who are affected by the fire outbreak that the youth is behind them and nobody can intimidate them And we are going to assure our parents that we are going to stand with you from the start to the end.
It has been a long that Ashantis have been treated badly, and today, we are not going to sit aloof for this unfortunate intimidation to continue. This is not how His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II manages or rules his kingdom, ” Mr. Oppong Daniel reiterated.
We are assuring these traders that if we have to put our resources together and write letters to the necessary agencies to sound the caution we will do that. We alsobwant to send this advise to authorities that we have a practical and bureaucratic way of dealing with issues. If you want to deal with issues, you follow bureaucratic processes and not Machiavellian way of dealing with issues,” he bemoaned.
