Four Perish on Kumasi-Obuasi Highway

A head-on collision between a Ford vehicle with registration number GW-281-12 travelling from Tarkwa to Kumasi and a Sprinter bus with registration number AC-1794-17, has claimed four lives including a six-month-old baby in a gory accident at Odumase, a community along the Kumasi-Obuasi Highway.

Dozens of people have also been injured in the accident that occurred on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.

According to an eyewitness report, the Ford vehicle in an attempt to overtake some vehicles, collided head-on with an oncoming Sprinter bus with registration number AC-1794-17.

The Assembly Member for Biibi Wo Man Mu electoral Area, Sampson Appiah, confirming the incident said the injured have been sent to the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), while the deceaseds have been to a nearby mosentrgue for autopsy and preservation.

Sampson Appiah also disclosed that the driver of the Ford vehicle lost one of his legs, while the Sprinter bus driver died on the spot, adding that it took the swift arrival of the personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to rescue the injured from the wreckage.

He lamented overspeeding on the highway, calling on the Ghana Police Service and responsible authorities to check drivers on the road to.prevent such occurrences in the future.
