Student stabs one to death, other in critical condition

A teenager believed to be a day student of Toase Senior High School (SHS) in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of the Ashanti, has stabbed one Princeford Nkrumah, alias ‘Star Boy”, 22 to death with scissors at Nkawie.

Other victim whose identity is yet to be confirmed is also in critical condition and is receiving treatment at the Nkawie -Toase Government Hospital.

The suspect nickname ‘Tymer’ allegedly committed this heinous crime on the deceased and the victim on Sunday, March 9, 2025 after misunderstanding ensued between him and the other two in the afternoon of that fateful day.

According to some residents, the deceased allegedly beat the suspect later on that day at Nkawie. The suspect who allegedly vowed a revenge on the deceased, came back to the town in the evening and holding scissors, stabbed the deceased who was with the injured friend.

Residents say, the Princeford Nkrumah succumbed to death on the spot as the result of the stabbing, while his friend also suffered various wounds on himself when he tried to intervene.

Witnesses say, the suspect after committing this heinous crime bolted away in the dark.

The injured person was rushed to the hospital whiles the deceased was taking to the morgue for autopsy and preservation.

Meanwhile, the police at Toase have mounted search for the suspect to be brought to book.

DGN has gathered that, friends of the deceased on their pragya tricycles on Monday afternoon stormed a place at Nkawie called Ebesi where students of Toase SHS come there to patronize Gari and Beans, popularly known as ‘Gobe’ for retaliation.

Luckily, when they arrived at the base only students from the Nkawie SHS, which is a neighbouring school were present.

“These guys on pragya tricycles and numbering about 15 stormed Ebesi base to retaliate on any student from Toase SHS, but when they came there were none of them here. No student from Toase SHS will be spared whenever we set eyes on them,” said a student of Nkawie SHS to DGN.

Calm has been restored in the two neighbouring communities; Nkawie and Toase since the incident happened, with police patrol team ensuring that there is total peace and order in the area.

It was also gathered that police from Nkawie were at Toase SHS to talk to the students, while Investigation is underway.
