One in critical condition after car crash

A driver with a Matiz Joy vehicle with registration number AW 1305-20 is in critical condition after her vehicle collided with a Nissan Pickup with registration number AS 9176-10 on Sunday February 23, 2025 at Kromoase in the Atwima Kwanwoma district of the Ashanti Region.
According to some eyewitness, the Matiz Joy vehicle was heading to Atwima Yabi from Kwadaso when it collided with the Nissan Pickup from the opposite direction.
It is alleged that the victim who is said to be a staff of the Ghana Judicial Service was making a call when the incident happened at about 14:30 hours on Sunday.
“The driver of the Nissan Pickup belonging to GHAAP Milling Plant PLC at Atwima Trabuom tried to avoid the incident but because the woman was at top speed and was also making a call, she failed to apply the brakes on time leading to the serious damages on both vehicles,” said one Owusu Abeam, a Taxi driver who was at the scene when the accident occurred.
With support from some Good Samaritans, the victim, who suffered broken legs, was forcibly removed from her vehicle and rushed to the Aburaso Methodist Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Nissan Pickup was unscathed but also went to the same Hospital for check ups.
Some residents at the scene were heard complaining about how drivers who use that stretch of road drive recklessly, resulting to accidents at the particular spot.
They appealed to the necessary authorities to construct speed ramps on that stretch to combat accidents on that road.
“A woman and her son nearly lost their lives two months ago when a splinter vehicle at a top speed nearly hit them at the same spot. We call on the Road Safety Authority and other stakeholders to quickly do the needful to prevent future accidents here,” a landlord at the area shared.
As at the time of leaving the scene, no police personnel were present.
However, some residents manager to remove the Matiz Joy vehicle from the middle of the road to prevent vehicular traffic.
