Man arrested for shooting galamseyer at Betinko

The police at Betinko in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region, has arrested a security guard for allegedly shooting to death a miner at a mining site at Betinko.
The deceased, Isaac Asamoah, 26 was shot dead when he was returning from a mining site together with his a brother and a friend.
The incident happened on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at about 9:30pm when the deceased, together with his brother and a friend went to a galamsey site to mine.
Asamoah was shot in his rib by an assilant whose name was not immediately known, who had staged ambush along the road.
A report was quickly made at the Betinko Police station and the deceased’s body was taken and preserved at the Frimpong- Boateng Medical Centre for autopsy and preservation.
The suspect who is the prime suspect in the case has been picked by the police to assist them in their investigations.
Multiple reports closed to swiftnews3.com, say the deceased had on several occasions threatened the suspect with a locally made pistol after he (deceased) had failed to give suspect’s share of the booties from their illegal mining activities.
“The three were returning from a galamsey site at that time and he was attacked by the suspect. He happened to be the one at last when they were coming and on reaching at a thick bush, the suspect shot him in his rib from that direction and died on the spot,” a source closed to this portal disclosed.
It was also gathered that the suspect is a security at a mining site and has been allegedly allowing the deceased and his group to mine at the site without the knowledge of his employers.
“In one of their activities, the deceased failed to give the suspect a share of his money which made the suspect to warn the deceased on several occasions. He (deceased) took the threats from the suspect lightly and has resulted in his demise”, a native of Betinko spoke to swiftnews3.com on condition of anonymity.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Frimpong- Boateng Medical Centre for autopsy and preservation while investigation continues.
The suspect will be arraigned before court later this week to fave the law.
