Nsoatreman FC Bankroller, 2 others arrested over the murder of Asante Kotoko supporter

Bankroller of Nsoatreman FC, Ignatius Baffour Awuah and two individuals have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service in connection with the murder of Nana Yaw Francis Frimpong (Pooley) that occurred Sunday, 2nd February 2025.

Other accomplices are Agyemang Duah Owusu and Kyeremeh Joseph. All three suspects are currently in Police custody assisting in the investigation.

The incident occurred during a football match between Nsoatreman FC and Kumasi Asante FC at Nsoatre in the Bono Region, resulting in the death of the deceased.

Sources close to this portal indicate that suspect Ignatius Baffour Awuah, a former Member of Parliament for Sunyani West constituency allegedly incited his supporters during the match and that could have motivated Nsoatreman supporters to commit this dastardly act.

Additionally, the deceased according to some supporters of Asante Kotoko alleged that the deceased was initially threatened by the home supporters of the club that he would not go back to Kumasi alive.

A search conducted in the room of suspect Agyemang Duah Owusu led to the retrieval of two dresses with suspected bloodstains and an MP 23 pistol with 15 rounds of ammunition.

Meanhile, the Inspector- General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has spoken to the family of the deceased and the leadership of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club to express the condolences of the Police.

He also assured the family and the Club of a thorough investigation into the matter, according to a statement from the Ghana Police Service.

A special team has been deployed from the Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters, to assist the Bono Regional Police Command in the investigation.
