Pooley’s Murder: Kotoko Global demands immediate suspension of the Ghana Premier League

Kotoko Global, a supporting group within Asante Kotoko fraternity is demanding immediate suspension of the Ghana Premier League until security reforms and justice are achieved following the murder of its fervent supporter Yaw Francis Frimpong, alias Nana Pooley at the Nana Konamansah Park yesterday.
While condemning the senseless and brutal murder of Pooley, the group has asked the management of Asante Kotoko to boycott the League until perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted.
“We condemn the brutal murder of Yaw Francis Frimpong (Pooley) at the Nana Konamansah Park during the Ghana Premier League match between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko. This senseless act exposes the deep-seated lawlessness plaguing Ghanaian football,” part of the statement read.
Kotoko Global is of the view that, the failure of the Ghana Football Association and Government to enforce security has contributed to this tragedy and has demanded immediate action to prevent future incidents.
The group among many other things are also seeking for the following demands:
– Reorganisation of Asante Kotoko Management to ensure stronger leadership in demanding justice and safety.
– Immediate arrest and prosecution of individuals involved in Pooley’s murder.
– Independent security audit of all football venues to prevent future incidents.
– Government intervention to establish an independent Football Security Task Force.
“We hold the Government of Ghana accountable for protecting Ghanaians. Failure to act decisively will have consequences. We call on the Manhyia Palace to expedite necessary interventions. Ghana stands at the crossroads. We demand bold action to restore law and order in football,” Global Kotoko concluded.
