Ghana Premier League 19: Lions Fail to roar at Oak

A 51st minute spotkick, cooly converted by Mawuli Wayo against Hearts of Lions was enough to give the Phobians the maximum three points at the University of Ghana Stadium on Friday.
The win by the Phobians has extended their unbeaten run in the league to six matches and fourth place on the league table, level on points with Lions and just one point behind leaders Asante Kotoko SC.
Despite their loss, Lions are still third on the league log and above the Hearts of Oak with a goal difference.
Head coach of Hearts of Oak, Aboubakar Ouattara handed new signing Seth Osei a place in the starting lineup and the Osei did not disappoint his employers and supporters with his good performance.
The first half saw both teams creating chances and looking to break the deadlock.
However, the goal- scoring better chances in the first 45 minutes of the game went to the homeside but woefully failed to convert none.
The worst culprit was Hamza Issah who missed glorious opportunity in the 29th minute to give the Phobians the lead, but he failed to convert the big chance.
A second-half penalty, coolly converted by forward Mawuli Wayo, proved decisive in securing all three points for the Phobians atthe University of Ghana Stadium.
However, the supporters of the Phobians were in a jubilation mood in the 51st minute after Mawuli Wayo scored from the penalty spot to break the virginity of the game.
The goal from Wayo has taken his tally to five goals, four behind Nation FC’s Faisal Charwetey who is leading the top scorers chat with nine goals.
