Mahama Sets Deadline For Diplomatic Passport Holders To Return Them

His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, has set January 24, 2025, as deadline date for all Diplomatic Passport Holders in the erstwhile Akufo-Addo led government to return their passports.

This move by the President is seen as a significant step towards ensuring that the official travel documents of the country are used responsibly and maintain the Diplomatic engagements with other foreign partners.

In a letter signed by Secretary to the President, Callistus Maham, indicated that the recall of the Diplomatic and Service Passports would stop the abuse and verification of the eligibility of the holders.

Meanwhile the letter instructs the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take measures to speed up the process, including issuing a public notice.

It also ordered the Ministry to set a deadline for compliance, and conducting verification of returned passports.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry is also tasked to conduct thoroughly investigate and review all returned passports to ensure that they align with the current eligibility criteria for issuance.
