Ghana Gets First Female Vice-President

PROFESSOR Naana Opoku Agyeman has officially been sworn in as the first female Vice-President of the Republic of Ghana.

The swearing-in ceremony held at the Independence Square in Accra this morning attracted scores of dignitaries from various countries to witness President John Dramani Mahama and Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman being unshered in to lead the country for the next four years.

They both took the oath of office administered by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.

Today’s event marked a moment of significant political transition and national unity, attracting heads of states, government officials, and citizens alike to witness the pivotal moment in the country’s political history.

She was nicely dressed in traditional attire and surrounded by family, friends, and political allies as she pledged to uphold the Constitution and serve the citizens with love,  honesty, dedication  and integrity.

Many see her role as critical in shaping national policies, assisting the President, and making sure there is a balanced approach to governance despite of the growing challenges.

Notable Heads of State at the ceremony include President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu and dignitaries from countries such as Democratic Republic of Congo, Botswana, Liberia, Guinea Bissau, Kenya, Senegal and Uganda.

Present too was National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Shaributu, and heads religious bodies
