Akufo-Addo Set To Deliver His Final SONA on January 3

PRESIDENT Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will on Friday January 3, 2025, deliver his final State of the Nation Address (SONA) at 10:00am as president of the 4th Republic.

In accordance with Article 67 of the 1992, Constitution, President Nana Akufo-Addo will present to Parliament his final message on the State of the Nation before the official dissolution of the 8th Parliament at 10:00 am prompt on Friday, 3rd January 2025.

In a press statement issue by Parliament, the 8th Parliament of the 4th Republic will be dissolved on Monday, 6th January, 2025 to allow the 9th Parliament reconvene on the same day at 11:00pm for the next Speaker and two Deputy Speakers to be elected. The Speaker-elect and members- elect will be sworn in at midnight.

There have been comprehensive guidelines ordered by the authorities in Parliament to ensure smooth media coverage.

Media personnel covering the events will have to obtain accreditation from Parliament before they can be allowed in. All authorized media personnel allow at the events must also have to display their approved tags throughout the events.

The statement also stated that all interviews and live shall be conducted at the foyer on the ground floor of the Chamber Block. Space allocation in the foyer will be allocated to the interested media houses on ‘first come, first served” basis.

Again all interested media houses that intend to broadcast live the event from Parliament are requested to set up by the evening of Thursday, 2nd January 2025, for the SONA and by the evening of Sunday, 5th January, 2025 for the inauguration of the 9th Parliament.

Parliament in their statement, appealed to all media personnel to adhere to the guidelines for a successful event. “Parliament values the cooperation it has with the media in its accountability endeavor and hopes that this collaboration will be further deepened in the 9th Parliament,” the statement concluded.
