A Former player of the Ghana Black Stars, Samuel Inkoom has been granted a GHC100,000.00 bail over visa fraud.
Inkoom is also ordered to bring two sureties with each earning a monthly salary from GHC5,000.00 upwards.
The Court presided over by Mrs Susana Eduful ordered the suspect to deposit his passport picture with the Court’s Registry.
Inkoom who also a former player for Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak is alleged to have taken USD4,000 from one Madam Elizabeth Atarime Mboh Awuni under the guise of acquring her client with a United States of America travelling visa but he has denied it.
The Court has adjourned the case to January 22, 2025 where Inkoom will reappear for its continuation.
The plea of the accused person has not been taken yet.
Presenting the facts of the case, Chief Inspector Tetteh Boafo, informed the court that, both complainants Madam Awuni, an entrepreneur and Abigail Owusu, a public servant reside at Oyarifa, a suburb of Accra.
The accused person, a footballer is a at Sekondi Takoradi in the Western Region.
In December 2023, Inkoom met madam Awunu at Achimota and introduced himself to her as a football scout and could assist her to travel abroad.
Prosecution told the court that Inkoom also told Madam Boafo that he could assist her in
securing USA and Canadian visas for interested persons to travel outside within six weeks at an fee of $4,000.00.
The complainant became convinced and gave Inkoom an initial fee of $4,000.00 to secure her a United States of America visa.
Upon receiving the money, accused person failed to honour his promise of securing the complainant that said visa and went into hiding.
He was later fished out from his hideout and in his caution statement to the Police, he confirmed the allegations and was arraigned.
Samuel Inkoom has played in teams based in 9 different countries, namely Switzerland, Ukraine, France, Greece, United States of America, Portugal, Turkey, Bulgaria and Georgia.
Notable teams he played for in his prime are Sekondi Hasaacas, Asante Kotoko, FC Basel, Dnipro, Bastia amd Platanias.
Other teams also include DC United, Boavista, Antalyaspor, Vereya, Dunav Ruse, Samtredia, Torpedo Kutaisi and Accra Hearts of Oak
