Ogum Praises Kwame OPoku’s Performance

PROSPER Nartey Ogum, head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club, has heaped praises on the performance of striker Kwame Opoku against Bibiani Goldstar at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Asante Kotoko beat Goldstars 2:0 in week 13 fixture of the 2024/2025 Ghana Premier league at the Baba Yara Stadium last Friday, where Kwame Opoku scored the second goal for the Porcupine Warriors.
Captain Justice Blay scored Kotoko’s first goal through a spot kick after one of Goldstas players handled the ball in the six yard box. Blay expertly converted the penalty kick in the 20th minute to give Kotoko the lead in the first half.
Kwame Opoku scored the second goal for Kotoko in the 73rd minute of the game after slotting in the ball at the blind side of Goldstars keeper.
The porcupine gaffer eulogised Kwame Opoku after scored a stunning goal in his second stint with the club. The striker preciously played for Asante Kotoko in the season of 2020-2021 league before he was shipped out to Algerian USM Algier.
Kwame Opoku, alias ‘Bayie’ has also had stint with Moroccan giant Olympique Khouribga. He only signed for Kotoko a few days ago after training with them for about four weeks.
“On Kwame Opoku, I am not surprised because he has been here before and he had played in the league for sometime. He’s gotten the experience and the most important thing is that since he came here has been with the team training with us day in and out and waiting patiently for his day to come and for the registration to be opened to showcase his ability,” Ogum said these during the post match remarks.
Ogum was also pleased with Kwame Opoku’s integration with the team since he joined his colleagues “In terms of integration, because he’s been with us for about four weeks or so I think he has been able to integrate very well into the team,” he explained.
“His colleagues respect him very much amd he comports himself so well at training and always encouraging the boys that it is doable.To me I am not surprised of his performance because he has the natural talent and has been able to use it to integrate himself into the team so he has responded very well and I think it is good for us’ Ogum posted.
The win takes Kotoko to second on the league log but with the 27 points with the miners from Bibiani in the Western North Region of Ghana.
Kotoko plays their next league game against Medeama Sporting Club at the TNA Sports Stadium on match day 14 on Friday January 3, 2025.
